I received my Texas ballot 3 weeks ago.
I understand that might be a problem with Americans living abroad.
You might want to check if you are registerd to vote or perhaps if you have declined jury duty.
Also name changes.Drivers license in the state of NY.
Hope this helps.
I was told these might be obstacles if not receiving an absentee ballot.
Thanks for the advice, Denise. I am going in person the next time I am in NYC.
I received absentee ballots regularly the first time I moved. Then all of a sudden they stopped. Since then, I’ve requested absentee ballots and they just don’t send them. I’m registered. They’ve sent me reminders of my registration to my parents’ address twice this year even though I haven’t lived there in a decade.
My name hasn’t changed. The Board of Elections keeps refusing to update the information I send so I get regular information for jury duty. Then I have to call, explain and send proof of residence. The courts actually get their info from the Board of Elections :(
They don’t bother to take dead people off the lists so I guess I can’t expect much. Hopefully I’ll get it sorted out so they can go back to sending me other people’s ballots.
