My sister-in-law (Lucerne) is 5'7' and weights about 110lbs. Last I heard she picks at her breakfast, skips lunch and picks at her dinner. All of her friends are thin like her. It is definitely a trend in certain circles in Switzerland.

I have heard that the British are getting fatter though.

@Jocelyn - > H&M is in the US? Get out. Had no idea. And I think the price of getting a weave has come down, making it more affordable. But, I had one a looong time ago and found it a nightmare to keep up. I just don't have the type of lifestyle to have one. I'm a tad bit too active.

@Denise - > I think this depends on what part of CH you're in. In Zurich, I can count on my hand the overweight people I've seen. I remember reading in, what was it, NZZ Portfolio maybe, about a story comparing women in CH. The writer said that Zurich women looked anorexic. I won't go that far, but I will say that I wonder how the women I see pushing carriages with newborns AND dragging a toddler can be a size 2. That's just not normal.

I think you will find the H&M stores here have the same European sizing. I'm always a larger size in European clothes than in American.

But it is true that Americans do over indulge in the food department. Could learn something from the Euros there.

The weaves... wow... what can I say. Even Oprah's getting them. I think this might be heavily influenced by today's entertainment artists.

love, love, love every bit of this post.
you're brilliant!
now that I've been State-side for over a year, I'm beginning to worry that the madness may be creeping its way into my head.
cheers!
