Each time a story is run about a Pretty White Girl who has gone missing punked out, I’ll post his link: Tamika’s Family and Friends Page
I e-mailed Salon.com about Tamika’s case a few months ago. They didn’t bite.
Maybe she doesn’t touch their “target audience”?
The disparity between coverage of missing people of color (and poor people) vs middle-to-upper class whites is so obvious, I can’t believe no one wants to cover this.
Yes I can.
I used to be knee-deep in the media matrix myself. I’ll never forget when I was sent out on a story of a kid possibly being trapped in a hole “because the kid could have been the next Baby Jessica.”
I’m sure that some of the reporters who covered the Runaway Bride story really cared about what happened to the chick. I’m sure many more looked at that bright smile, those big eyes and all of those wedding gifts and….well whatever.
