Top level trickery

From the International Herald Tribune: Pentagon blocks site for voters outside U.S.

In a decision that could affect Americans abroad who are not yet registered to vote in the Nov. 2 presidential election, the Pentagon has begun restricting international access to the official Web site intended to help overseas absentee voters cast ballots.

From Salon.com: The Pentagon doesn’t want you to vote overseas

News of the Pentagon’s traffic-blocking immediately aroused alarm and suspicion among voting-rights activists, and it’s not hard to see why. For the 6 million Americans living abroad, signing up to vote at home is a daunting task, a Byzantine process that differs for each citizen depending on his or her home state and even home county.

Did you expect anything else, last time round the Florida machinations worked; this time the overseas voters scam just might work.

    Hi Rudi,

Long time no hear.:-) I guess I wasn’t expecting something so blatant. Check out that salon.com article. I’m at the point where I want to just toss my hands up. What can be done other than (insert an illegal action here that would send me to Death Row)?

I just don’t know what to do. I feel so helpless. I see happening in my country the same thing that the Hub has told me happened before WWII. It’s a particular vibe or feeling that’s hard to explain. I think being in Europe has made me more sensitive to things as such.

I’m amazed (OK, I should be amazed) that this isn’t all over old media. This is an amazing abuse of power, one I didn’t expect even from the freaks we have in control now.

    Hi Rashunda,
don’t let it get you down, you have long since taken the burden of keeping your fellow Americans abroad informed, be well assured that we Europeans will not let it happen in the US, what America has not let happen again in Europe since WWII. The most important for us, Europeans and Americans is keeping alert and be willing to speak up, whenever things need to be spoken about!
