Rashunda - I understand why people are skittish. That's the only response acceptable any time people's votes aren't allowed to speak for themselves and interpreters are allowed. My concern is that nothing was done to make improvements. Republicans had no incentive because "they won" and Democrats would rather say "selected not elected" than come up with a solution that would fix a problem that helps them as often as it hurts.

Each state (and ideally the entire country) needs to use the same voting equipment. Until that happens, fraud will be impossible to avoid.

Don - No, I haven't seen it. It doesn't come out here until August.

Erick - I never said that "every" decision made by "every" politician was a plot. Only one in particular. Also, to say that you don't understand why everyone is so skittish is wild to me. Remember, 2000 isn't that far away. The elections were a fiasco. That taught me that anything is possible.

Just a few comments along the way.

First, I don't understand the furor over talking about delaying the election if there's a terrorist attack on election day or a few days before. New York delayed it's election on 9/11 and democracy prevailed - plus, what most people complaining don't realize is that a terrorist attack would likely help President Bush in an election. Imagine if election day was September 12, 2001, would anyone have beaten any President (of either party) in power on that day? Doubtful.

Second, gay marriage can't be anything but a state issue. Even if Congress approves an amendment banning gay marriage, it needs to be approved by the states. If it's not, then the Amendment fails. And, if you're opposed to having one law for the entire country on this issue, imagine how much easier the 2000 election would have been if our method of voting was consistent nationwide.

Third, (and last) for everyone living overseas, I encourage you to vote. But realize, if it's a close election like last time, you will be the first people disenfranchised. Nothing got changed after the last election because each side thought the other was trying to screw it over (and they probably were). For any change to happen, the us/them mentality has to disappear. Not every decision made by every politican is part of a larger plot to take over the country through illegal means.

I dug this entry. And i feel you 100%. but i have this feeling that Bush will either lose or win by a very narrow margin. that thought is scary.

The intelligence: flawed
The dossier: dodgy
The 45-minute claim: wrong
Dr Brian Jones: vindicated
Iraq's link to al-Qa'ida: unproven
The public: misled
The case for war: exaggerated
And who was to blame? No one
