Another beheading.

I haven’t discussed the current spate of beheadings due to the sheer horror that flows through my body whenever I think about the situation. I must ask this question though: Where are the hostage takers getting all of these orange jumpsuits from?

I guess they can be easily ordered over the internet. Maybe?

Another question, and yes hubby, I know you’ve tried to explain this to me but I still don’t get it. Almost all websites are traceable in some way. Right? Maybe?

Even if someone on the side of the hostage takers has her or his (reversal intended) own server, the IP address *had* to be issued by *some* type of agency or organization. The IP address couldn’t have come from just out of the blue. Right? Maybe?

So, how is it that these groups can upload pics and videos of beheadings and *no one* can trace their source?

I just need someone to explain this to me. Remember, being a Mensa member only means that I’m a good test taker.

I wonder if it will make a difference at all if non-extremist Muslims denounce the actions of these confused, godless, barbarians?

One thing that has always puzzled me is why the men of Islam allow themselves to be portrayed as morally weak and unable to control their sexual urges in public. That’s the rationale for covering the women, that the average Muslim man cannot be trusted to not sexually assault any female they can see…

The Koran only says the wives of the prophet had to be veiled, not all women.

Nope. I don’t believe so. The extremists will only view the message as coming from “infidels”.

I had the veiling explained to me in a different way. I was told that the women were veiled so that they could be “judged” according to their hearts and not their looks. Probably each sect has their own reason.

I might believe that if not wearing a veil didn’t get you killed in many Islamic societies. And if women had equal rights to travel, vote, sign contracts, drive a car, etc.

Kyla: Why is that so hard to believe? What if it’s the militants who have misinterpreted the reason? What if the reason for the veil *was* actually to take the pressue off of women being judged merely by their looks and the hard-liners took that to mean something else?

m - I’m a Target gal myself.:-) What about Al Jeezeera and…what’s the name of that other major Arabic language outlet…something like Al Hamadya or something like that. Those two orgs are pretty major. Don’t they have the same resources? Why can’t they scoop the western media?

Maybe it was, was being the operative word. But today, if a woman shows as much as a wisp of hair, they can be killed or severely punished in many Islamic countries.

Did you see the article about the 53 beheadings in Saudi Arabia last year? Murders, thieves, and homosexuals were beheaded.

Women only have a basic right to exist, nothing more, and homosexuals don’t even have the right to life.

Women who wear the hijab by choice, like here in Canada, I absolutely support their right to wear it. As long as they also have the right to remove it at their pleasure.

Can’t find the exact article now, all the ones I can find say drug dealers and murders, but leave the homosexuals off the list.

Egypt is currently actively persecuting homosexual men who hook up in chat rooms, in sting operations. There was a story on Afghanistan a couple of years ago about 3 homosexuals buried in the earth and a stone wall pushed onto them by a bull dozer, with the intent to cause death. The only reason it made the news was because they lived. Therefore, god didn’t think it worthy of dying over.
