Mind boggling isn’t the right phrase to use but it’s all I can come up with.
The death toll from Friday’s devastating earthquake in Iran could reach 50,000, government officials said today. The raised forecast came as aid workers in the shattered city of Bam said they were shifting their operation from searching for survivors to humanitarian efforts. The confirmed death toll from the quake, which measured 6.3 on the Richter scale, today rose to 28,000, the UN said. From: The Guardian
Sometimes I just wonder how whatever force that drives our Universe can allow something like this to happen. Maybe “allow” isn’t the right word to use in this case. I’m just questioning right now. 20 to 50,000 people gone. Gone. In the blink of an eye. Can you imagine your town being wiped out like that? Can you imagine losing 5 - 10 (shoot…I’ve heard in some reports 200) family members at once?
Why do things like this happen? What lesson is there to learn from this if any?

It is so beyond belief Rashunda!! I can’t even begin to fatham what it is like to be living in the middle east. If some country isn’t waging war over there, then there is the devastation of this quake.
I do wish you a wonderful New Year’s Eve and all the best for 2004. Lets hope the rest of the world can enjoy life the way we do next year as well.
just read a stat in the international herald tribune…120,000 humans die every day…on average…not to be little this tragedy more place in perspect the force of nature and mans need to control it
